Expensive Engagement Rings Tell The Same Story
If money were not an option, buying an engagement ring has the potential to be much more fun. However, no matter how much money you spend, expensive engagement rings do not guarantee love that will last a lifetime any more than an inexpensive ring will. It is because the ring is a symbol of love, the circle of the band a representation of an unending commitment. But symbols are powerless without hard work and determination and a lot of love.
Even so, expensive engagement rings are pretty, and they are fun to look at, even if it is just to be amazed that someone can spend that much on a small piece of jewellery. Of course, when we are in love, we would buy the moon if we could, and those that can afford it, do.
Some of the most expensive engagement rings belong to royalty or celebrities, but not as many as you would expect. One of the most expensive engagement rings, coming in at around £30,419, is the ring Prince Charles gave to Lady Diana. It is a 18 carat sapphire oval ring, and very stunning. David Beckham gave Victoria a pink diamond engagement ring with a modern twist, and it costs an estimated £322,626.
But not all expensive engagement rings belong to celebrities or royalty. Tiffany makes a stunning engagement ring, an oval diamond micromelee split shank ring that is 14.79 carats. Anyone can buy it, if they have around £897,208. And one of the most expensive engagement rings on the planet is in the De Beers collection. It is a simple solitaire with a platinum band, but the diamond has a D grade, meaning it is as good as it can get. This ring will go for £1,124,583.
And yet, no matter how much we admire them, with all their sparkle and shine, the cost is not what makes a ring special. It is the meaning behind it, the story. The commitment that the ring represents. What makes a ring special is the love that it symbolizes, and inexpensive engagement rings can say that as beautifully as expensive engagement rings.
