Design Your Own Engagement Ring for Your Forever Love
What needs to be taken into consideration when you design your own engagement ring? With this precious symbol of a love that will last forever, you’ll want to give your choices careful consideration.
The first choice when you design your own engagement ring will probably be whether you’re going to have white gold, yellow gold or platinum. If choosing gold, you’ll determine what carat rating of gold you’ll invest in.
Then the setting and the stone will need to be determined. Assuming your choice is to have a centre diamond, you’ll then choose the cut of the diamond, the size of the diamond the colour of the diamond, and the clarity of the diamond. Each one of these choices are important for the precious centrepiece of the engagement ring. These factors are known as the four “Cs”: Cut, colour, clarity, and carat.
Common diamond cuts are: cushion, round, princess, emerald, marquise, heart, pear, radiant, oval, and Asscher. The Royal Asscher diamond, for example, is a stunning cut with 74 facets.
The character and personality of your ring is reflected in the style of the ring itself. So when you design your own engagement ring you’ll determine if your preference is for a plain solitaire, or for smaller diamonds accompanying and accenting the central stone. You might also choose to complement your ring with other gemstones.
Another choice will be to determine if you prefer a vintage setting or if a modern setting more your style. Other possible design features are split row mill grained, two rows of smaller stones on either side of the central stone, or pave set stones, where small stones are set into the ring in “paved” rows.
These are a few of the many options from which you may make you choices when you design your own engagement ring.
